Greater New Haven Community Chorus
To Begin Rehearsals for 2015-16 Season with an Open Call for Singers

New Haven, CT – July 27, 2015 – Greater New Haven Community Chorus, a non-auditioned, four part (SATB) chorus is currently inviting singers to join its choral group for the 2015 - 2016 season.  The chorus is accepting all voice parts, but currently has a special need for tenors and basses.

GNHCC’s December concert, “Holiday Collage” will feature audience favorites: Gloria by Vivaldi; The King Shall Rejoice, one of the Coronation Anthems by Handel; The Twelve Days of Christmas, arranged by Bob Chilcott; and Sleigh Ride by Leroy Anderson, as well as works by Lauridsen, Gawthrop, Olofsson and others.  The concert will be held on December 12, 2015 at 8:00 PM in Battell Chapel in New Haven.

Rehearsals for the upcoming season will begin September 3rd and are held every Thursday from 7:00 to 9:15 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, at 704 Whitney Avenue, New Haven.  Prospective members are invited to attend three rehearsals as guests before committing to join the chorus.  This provides an opportunity to meet the chorus and Artistic Director, Noah Blocker-Glynn, to see if GNHCC provides an appealing atmosphere. Interested singers may visit any rehearsal during the fall enrollment period from September 3 – September 17, 2015.  No audition is required for singers who join the chorus during the enrollment period.  More information about location, parking, registration, and repertoire for the upcoming season can be found at

To fulfill the chorus’ mission of achieving the highest possible standard of choral music performed by a non-auditioned chorus, singers must be able to regularly attend and actively participate in weekly rehearsals.  An enthusiastic commitment to performance excellence is expected and members are strongly encouraged to share their individual skills and talents with various GNHCC volunteer committees.  There are opportunities to audition for solos and for the GNHCC Chamber Choir, a 30-voice ensemble of singers (selected by audition from the larger, non-auditioned chorus), performing unaccompanied selections and focusing on community outreach.

Greater New Haven Community Chorus consists of approximately 100 voices and draws its membership from throughout the greater New Haven area.  GNHCC strives to embrace the wide diversity of the community and is committed to making quality music accessible and approachable for audiences and members alike.  Greater New Haven Community Chorus was founded in 1963 as a venture in community singing and continues to perform with pride and distinction.
